RIYL: Le Matos, Disasterpeace, Vangelis, the Minimoog Voyager
Swedish composer and sound designer Douglas Holmquist is neck-deep in the video game soundtrack world, producing 4 different scores in 2014 alone. Ā Admittedly, I haven’t played a single one of the games he’s been involved with, but Holmquist’s brand of vintage Moog and 80s synthĀ motifs hits me right in the pleasure zone. Ā If you fell in love with Le Matos’ Turbo Kid soundtrack and still throw Vangelis’ classic work onto your turntable, Holmquist is a no-brainer. Ā You don’t have to play the game to understand the cultural significance here. Ā Every track sounds incredible Ā No filler whatsoever.
This also appears to be the first vinyl endeavor from Holmquist, and as soon as this piece gets passed through the soundtrack fanboy forums, I don’t imagine 375 copies will last very long. Ā Check out the entire albumĀ below and grab some limited blue vinyl after the ‘buy’ link.
