Rich Vreeland has carved out a well-earned niche within the expansive panorama of soundtracking, breathing a glint of humanity into the cold world of synthscapes and chiptune composition. Known as Disasterpeace, Vreeland’s talent nearly outshines the work he soundtracks, from the terrorizing pulse of It Follows to the joyful eargasm of the indie game classic FEZ.
Given how collectible some of Disasterpeace’s albums have gotten over the years, it’s remarkable that his 2011 spacey chiptune classic Rise of the Obsidian Interstellar was never pressed to vinyl. Welp, that’s about to change! The Yetee has teamed up with Vreeland for a gourmet treatment to the beloved soundtrack, throwing it on a multi-colored splatter colorway. They’re going pretty fast, so I’d grab one pretty quick if you dig what you’re hearing. Listen to the whole album below.
