RIYL: neo-classical

Label: Erased Tapes

I’ve got another release that stems from one of the minds behind Stars of the Lid for you, and, yeah, it’s another soundtrack. However, as is the case with¬†Iris, it can fortunately be listened to on its own. However, I imagine seeing the film will help lend gravity to each of these songs. Like past releases in the form of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, The Dead Texan and Stars of the Lid, Wiltzie brings forth a mix of neo-classical and drone to ease the heart and center the mind. In each of his compositions, there’s always some form of hope buried beneath the melancholic leanings the strings will often take.¬†Salero, a documentary still doing its rounds on the festival circuit, takes place in the surrealist and picturesque Salar de Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia. What they’re doing there is mining for lithium underneath the surface – a mineral you probably know of that’s used to treat severe depression, among other uses. Listen to a preview of the Salero soundtrack below by clicking the Buy Now button and you can listen to “Lithium, The New Era” via the Soundcloud player below. See what you think of it. Cheers!
