RIYL: Dawes, The War on Drugs, Wilco

Label: self-released

Alberta indie folk 4-piece The Utilities are jumping into the world of vinyl with their fourth full-length Heavy South, a collection of back roads, life stories, heartaches and vision.  Train track rhythms collide with simple, but poignant vocal harmonies, a perfect soundtrack to the looming cold months ahead.  You can practically hear the fireplace crackling.  Fans of Dawes, The War on Drugs and Wilco will find plenty to love here.  Only two tracks in and I’m itching to hear the rest.

There are only 100 copies of the album on white vinyl, so check out the tracks below and grab a slab after the ‘buy’ link.
