RIYL: Chelsea Wolfe, Zola Jesus, Bat For Lashes
Label: Sacred Bones
Undoubtedly, a good amount of you Sly readers probably already have this one, but I was surprised to see that there are still copies available of the limited version with the alternate wax-sealed sleeve.  I can only assume that there aren’t many left, so if you’ve been on the fence about Marissa Nadler’s newest album, now’s as good a time as any!
Now, for the uninformed, Marissa Nadler is a seasoned singer/songwriter and painter from Boston and has graced many a record label since 2004 including Bella Union, Kemado Records, and now Sacred Bones.  Her breezy falsetto melts into her atmospheric melodies like an apparition in an old polaroid photograph.  It’s a broody, moody love affair here, and fans of Chelsea Wolfe, Zola Jesus, Bat For Lashes and other mysterious songstresses will love every damn track on this album.  That’s a promise.
Take a listen to the album below, and get a view of the alternate wax-sealed cover.  I may have to finally buy a cassette player so that I can hear the accompanying 8-track demo!
*** Limited Edition Version: Edition of 400 hand-numbered copies, comes with alternate screen-printed wrap-around sleeve, 8-song demo cassette, wax sealed and available by mail-order only. ONE PER PERSON LIMIT. ***
