RIYL: Boygenius, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus
Label: Matador Records
Julien Baker is a hot commodity after her hugely successful debut and sophomore albums. After a few years off and side projects aside (Boygenius), we are back with “Little Oblivions”. Fans were quick to grab the first few variants, A Spotify First limited to 500, a VMP limited to 500 and an exclusive from 6131. Initially the Matador Store exclusive sold out, but it’s back up and I’m giving you all the scoop. With all of Julien’s releases, you have to be extremely quick before the flippers grab them. Anyways, there are 3 variants out still and are listed below. I haven’t heard much from the album so I’m leaving you with this short blurb from Matador.
Little Oblivions is the third studio album by Julien Baker. Recorded in Memphis, TN, the record weaves together unflinching autobiography with assimilated experience and hard-won observations from the past few years, taking Baker’s capacity for storytelling to new heights. It also marks a sonic shift, with the songwriter’s intimate piano and guitar arrangements newly enriched by bass, drums, keyboards, banjo, and mandolin with nearly all of the instruments performed by Baker.
