RIYL: My Bloody Valentine, Chapterhouse, Lush, Slowdive, Curve, Medicine, Swervedriver, Moose, Pale Saints, Swirlies, The Ecstasy of St. Theresa, Revolver, whatever Sindre usually writes about

Label: Ride Music

Ride is what I consider to be part of the holy triumvirate of shoegaze bands usually spoken of whenever the topic’s brought about – the other two parts being My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Nowhere is without a doubt Ride’s seminal release – it’s their Loveless and and it’s their Souvlaki (although, I’m more of a Pygmalion guy). Shoegaze, in its earlier years, was mocked constantly by the music press and before being called shoegaze, it was called “the scene that celebrates itself.” The likes of Melody Maker had a field day with it. Now, the genre has a cult following and the shoegaze bands of yore seem to have been thinking reunions are a great idea – My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Swervedriver, Lush and yes, even Ride. With these reunions come new fans and represses – in this case, a limited edition. There’s nothing I can really say about the album itself – it’s a shoegaze classic. Listen to Nowhere via the Spotify player below and see what you think of it. Cheers!
