Chilean psych at its finest!  WatchOut! combines a lot of different influences into their expression, and the outcome is a varied, quality trip of tasty twists and turns. A brilliant album,  and I cannot recommend this enough if you’re digging the psychedelic slopes of rock/pop/world-music!  These guys are currently touring North America, and Permanent Records have decided to give their 2011-debut album a domestic release. Good for you!

WatchOut3

This is listed as a 2014-repress through Permanent Records, but I bought a copy of it on white vinyl last summer (also on Permanent), so I’m not 100% on the details here… Anyway, at this point they have less than 130 copies available, so get on it.

WatchOut2

“WatchOut! is the lovechild proof that Os Mutantes and Popol Vuh had an elicit rendezvous in mid-70’s Santiago. This Chilean rock group blends krauty synth textures with a Tropicalian style not so successfully crafted since the 70’s. Latin rhythms, fuzzy, wah-wah guitar leads, and melodic organ patterns are sewn sweetly together to create a quilt of psychedelic pop that would comfort even the coldest Brazilian psych aficionado. This LP was one of the best unheard and under-released records of 2011. “Flashbacker” includes seven tracks of 60’s Brazilian psych, 70’s German hypnotism, 80s UK fuzz pop, and Indian raga influenced jams all seamlessly and brilliantly woven together”
