RIYL: Harry Nilsson, Nina Simone, Pointer Sisters, Carole King, Woody Guthrie
Label: Light in the Attic
My earliest records were all read along record/book combos. You know, the ones that would beep at the end so you knew it was time to turn the page. Hell, I remember getting Gremlins read along record books with the kids meal at Hardees(read: Carlâs Jr).
I can say that I never had a read along record book quite like this one. Two of my favorite labels Third Man Records and Light in the Attic have teamed up to put together this awesome read-along record/book that includes music from Carole King, Woody Guthrie, Donovan, Harry Nilsson, Jerry Garcia, Nina Simone, Kermit The Frog and more.
The first pressing variant from 2015 was limited to 200 copies on a pink and light blue “gender equality split” vinyl.
It’s a really fantastic package and I have recommended it to all of my friends who have young children. I’d even recommend putting a copy away for any future children you may have. It’s important to start music education young, and these tunes have been kid-tested and approved and they aren’t Raffi and the only singing animal is Kermit.
