So as a year in review we upped our traffic from last year’s 500,000 to just almost 1 million visits! (insert Dr. Evil voice). It’s insane to watch as the site and the love of vinyl continues to grow.

As with last year, great music is on limited vinyl and that’s very exciting., see our list below and the limited vinyl variants we posted about.

#25 Thee Oh Sees – Drop

Limited to 1000, Castleface continues to kill it with great releases like Thee Oh Sees and many others.

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Mended With Gold

#24 The Rural Alberta Advantage – Mended With Gold

One of the most solid albums of the year, song after song it continues to deliver. Put out in a limited fashion by 2 of our fav labels Saddle Creek & Paper Bag. Some limited copies of the haze stillavailable at paper bag, all other limited versions are sold out.

 Alvvays - Alvvays

#23 Alvvays – Alvvays

A surprise album. We all were excited about the “archie” when we heard it and they delivered with an album that paid it off. Great albums. 300 is sold out but there is a blue version available now.

#22 The Ghost of a Sabertooth Tiger – Midnight Sun

Psych’s return to the forefront has be extremely welcomed at SlyVinyl. I personally have loved Sean Lennon’s music and this is definitely no exception. Great album.

#21 Meatbodies – Meatbodies

Limited to 200, David tried to tell you. Hope you got one!

#20 Kishi Bashi – Lighght

Another great album from Kishi. The gold splattered records flew off the shelves as expected. Joyful Noise is really doing great stuff.

#19 Temples – Sun Structured

The second I heard “Shelter Song” I knew I’d love this one. Great album front to back. The ltd to 400 orange version of this is well gone, but the restructured version is out in ltd now so get that one.

#18 Real Estate – Atlas

The silky smooth jams of Real Estate ltd on 1000 maroon. Saw these guys a couple times this year and they are exceptional. Deluxe is gone, so hope you got one.

#17 Jesus Sons – Jesus Sons

No idea how Sindre found this one so early, but you definitely should have bought one right away. Ltd to 50, these flew.

#16 Jenny Lewis – The Voyager

Oh No our first album with no limited version on vinyl. Lame. But it was recorded with Ryan Adams, so thats a win.

#15 Swans – To Be Kind

Our second non-limited vinyl release. But still on a 3xLP release, snag one now. Definitely the experimental release of the year.

First Aid Kit - Stay Gold

#14 First Aid Kit – Stay Gold

Loved this album, limited variant has been in crazy demand, but it makes sense as the album is so good.

#13 Strand of Oaks – Heal

I love the rugged authentic alt country sound of Strand of Oaks. Such a great album and such a different direction from their previous.

#12 Odesza – In Return

As fans of electronic ( see BSBD ) we enjoy the bass here at Sly. We actually tried to contact Odesza more than a year ago and get a pressing of their last album, but they haven’t contact us… hey guys we still want in! They had a pre-order signed edition of this up, but no real limited variant.

#11 Spoon – They Want My Soul

I’m always a fan of Spoon, they continue to make great albums, this year is no different.

#10 Jack White – Lazaretto

Biggest selling record of the last 20 years! Vinyl is back! But was it just me or did this albums insane amount of tricks kinda get old when you were spinning it over and over? Still awesome album.

#9 Röyksopp – The Inevitable End

Unfortunately no limited variant =( Amazing album and tons of variety.

#8 Sharon Van Etten – Are We There

The sultry slow singer gave us a landmark album this year & gave it to us in limited vinyl fashion. Yay!

#7 Mac Demarco – Salad Days

Ugh, this is my biggest miss of the year. Why didn’t I buy!! Ugh. Great album. “Let Her Go” was easily one of my top tracks of the year. Did you get one?

#6 St Vincent – St Vincent

I think I never fully understood how badass Anne was at shredding guitar until I saw her this year. This album really shines and shows off all the best of what she’s done to date.

#5 Morgan Delt – Morgan Delt

Sooo we actually posted about this record and Trouble in Mind asked us to take it down. Sad, but they really want their email subscribers to get the goods. Soooo please don’t miss this opportunity, go signup to their list!!

A killer psych album by Morgan Delt, a must have record.

ahh all gone

#4 Ryan Adams – Ryan Adams

As a lover of Alt Country, I’ve been addicted to Ryan Adams for years. I keep thinking his albums will start to disappoint and they don’t. This album sadly didn’t have a limited variant, but he has put out many limited 7″s this year. Definitely grab 1984 on 7″ if you haven’t already.

#3 Ty Segall – Manipulator

Ty seems to find a way into our top 10 every year. The man pumps out the hits. We didn’t post about the limited variants of this (a red and a yellow) because by the time we got to posting it they had already sold out. Ty has the demand for sure and we shall continue to gobble them up.

#2 Beck – Morning Phase

It’s cool when an artist hears the cries of his fans and so perfectly delivers. We all wanted more Sea Change and finally we got it. Even though I didn’t vote this as my number 1, I think this record was spun the most of any this year for me. No limited variant of this one, just nab a black and wait for Newbury to press it in color in a few years.

#1 The War on Drugs – Lost in the Dream

Whoa huge surprise, oh wait, no you knew this would be #1. Never has an album been more of a lock than this year. It had more than double the points of #3 on the list. crazy. Love this album and the purple vinyl version of it I have in my stacks. Did you get a purple one or maybe even the sneaky blue one?

So to total it up, Our of our top 25 – 19 had limited vinyl versions. It’s a great time to be a vinyl collector.
