A week or so back we wrote about the recent Sub Pop repress of The Thermals back catalog. Now comes the announcement of their latest (sixth) LP ‘Desperate Ground’ on their newly signed label, Saddle Creek Records! Long history here, having toured with multiple Saddle Creek bands (Cursive, Ladyfinger) and also helping set up one of the first Bright Eyes shows back in 1999… well, maybe this was just a long time coming!

This Saddle Creek debut will be produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth) and, as the press release mentions, is “a true scrappy and scratchy return-to-form” that “tells the (murky) tale of a lone rogue in the night.”

Desperate Ground is due out on April 16th.

The Details

This limited edition (of 500) of "Desperate Ground" is only available from Saddle Creek's online store and from the band on tour. The album is pressed on marbled red and black 180g vinyl at RTI in California.

The album is not in stores until APRIL 16, but if you order it from Saddle Creek, they'll ship it out to you on APRIL 2. Also on APRIL 2, your account will be updated to allow you to download the album in high quality 320 Kbps MP3s.
