RIYL: The Rapture, Death From Above 1979, Ghostland Observatory

Label: Saddle Creek

Before, during and after the ‘electro rock’ boom of the early aughts, there was The Faint.  Nebraska’s finest synth punks have been at it since the mid 90s, churning out bonafide classics of the genre like 1999’s Blank-Wave Arcade and 2001’s Danse Macabre.  Now on their seventh album, The Faint are back with old friends Saddle Creek for the first time since 2005.  That makes me feel good inside.

First single Child Asleep picks right up where the group left off, incorporating their signature combo of frantic synth loops and driving rhythms.  Vocalist Todd Fink can still bring the heat too.  It’s hard to believe the dude is almost 45 years old.  Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!  Saddle Creek only has 300 copies of Egowerk on red vinyl, so I doubt they’ll stick around for long.  Grab one after the ‘buy’ link.
