This is such a classic album. A classic sunday afternoon album or smokey Friday night lounge record. Love me some Otis, RIP. RSD UK has a bunch of info on this one. I’ll let them tell it like it is.
Originally released in 1965, āOtis Blueā is the critically acclaimed fourth album by the undeniable King of Soul, Otis Redding. Incredibly, this top 10 and Silver certified album, was recorded in the space of a mere 24 hours! Despite this, with a backing group consisting of three quarters of the legendary Stax house band, Booker T and the MGās, Isaac Hayes on keys and members of The Memphis Horns, Otis was able to produce some of his finest work.
The album features the classic originals; Ole Man Trouble, Iāve Been Loving You Too Long, and the timeless hit Respect ā later to be covered by the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. Alongside these sit some inspired covers including B.B. Kingās Rock Me Baby, The Temptationās no.1 hit My Girl, and the sensational Rolling Stones classic (I Canāt Get No) Satisfaction, all reworked with Reddingās unmatched style and flair.
This timeless album has been reissued on a special edition blue vinyl with original artwork!
