Spartan Records, well known for bands well-established in the emo and pop punk realm, is throwing us a curveball here…and the results are pretty damn fantastic.  From the first hemorrhaging synth pulse of Something Divine, I’m immediately aware that this is a clear and different path for the label.

NYVES is the amalgamation of dark synth and alternative rock.  Think Depeche Mode in their heroin-induced early 90s period, NIN in the throes of The Downward Spiral, and even more modern acts like White Lies.  It’s moody, brooding, and rich with bleeding heart lyrics.  In that melancholy and longing lies a transparent and vulnerable human being, and that’s a powerful and beautiful thing.  I’ve got high hopes for NYVES, and am excited for this cool new trajectory for Spartan Records.

There are 6 gorgeous variants for the album, adding up to 1000 copies in all.  The rarest of the bunch is the silver, white & black splatter at 100 copies, but check the rest of them out after the ‘buy’ link.
