This is another one where I feel the title alone sells this as a “need to buy” record. Though I realize that Kishi Bashi is still quite unknown. We stumbled across him on some blog last year and his song “Bright Whites” ended up making it as my #9 song of the year. (Listen to my Top 60 here). His music can best be described as uplifting joyful pop music that is artistically crafted with many many layers weaving together to make some truly amazing music.

He has become a favorite of Kevin Barnes, of Of Montreal, and toured together with him. Kevin also appears on the third track on this 10″ for all Of Montreal collectors.

From the label:

In honor of Kishi Bashi’s first headlining tour (which kicks off on July 26 in NYC), Joyful Noise is releasing a special limited vinyl edition of Kishi Bashi’s “Room for Dream” EP. Originally released only on CD, Kishi Bashi’s debut recording features early versions of two Kishi classics: “Manchester” and “Bright Whites”, and also features a guest performance by of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes.

The first time ever on vinyl, the 10″ also features an exclusive bonus track “Unicorns Die When You Leave” – an outtake from the “151a” recording sessions.

The first 500 copies of the vinyl are hand-numbered, pressed on clear/white (side by side) split color vinyl. Records can ONLY be purchased from the Joyful Noise online store, and from the band on tour. “Room for Dream” is not currently available in stores. All orders include instant digital download of the entire record (including bonus song).
