RIYL: blues, rock, blues rock

Here at SlyVinyl, we love getting turned onto new music.  In late 2014, Newbury Comics introduced the world to a man named Jimi Hendrix.  Prior to their much-needed reissue of his debut album, Jimi was nothing more than a distant memory…an artifact of a time long ago when men and women freely enjoyed mind-altering drugs, engaged in promiscuous sex and had conversations with little to no help from their cell phones.
Legend has it that in 1955, Jimi Hendrix was enjoying a slow dance with his girlfriend at a local sock hop called Enchantment Under the Sea when a short and strangely-dressed white kid got up on stage and played what is now called a “guitar solo”, shredding a blues riff with a completely different tone and style that was at least 20 years ahead of its time. Â It changed a lot of lives that night including Chuck Berry’s, whose brother was in the band playing at the dance and held a telephone up to the speakers. Â Chuck Berry went on to change rock and roll forever and start a successful restaurant/pee cam franchise. Â Jimi Hendrix, unfortunately, only played at a few unsuccessful festivals like Monterey Pop, Woodstock and the Isle of Wight before he died from vomit sickness. Â Right, I haven’t heard of these festivals either. Â Anyway, if you like blues, rock, or blues rock, check out Jimi Hendrix and grab the 113th edition of Electric Ladyland after the ‘buy’ link.
