This is a personal one for me. From right next to my hometown of Turlock, CA comes a release from Modesto, CA’s OFF THE AIR Recordings! For those of you who are familiar with the infamous Grandaddy, comes a split 7″ release. Grandaddy’s front man Jason Lytle covers Sea of Bees’ ‘Won’t Be Long’ while Sea of Bees covers Jason Lytle’s ‘Get Up and Go.”
OFF THE AIR has been an integral part in sustaining the music scene within the Central Valley of CA. Mostly agricultural, this area of CA goes widely unnoticed but harbors some true talent that just never got enough recognition. Jupiter Is Useless and Fairway are a perfect example of this; from house shows to an appearance with David Dondero and Dredg. We all know music exists everywhere, always. It’s promotion that seems to fall on hard times. Future legends fall short. Bands such as El Olio Wolof and individuals such as OFF THE AIR’s Greg Edwards know this truth and have been supporting music in this barren portion of CA for quite some time now. As a central hub and safe haven within the Central Valley, these guys have kept music alive by keeping shows going for the up and coming talent. Simply put, these guys have set a foundation where most have chosen to give up.
With all this being said, help support true music by means of growth from hard times! This is music.
OFF THE AIR Recordings teams up with the much respected Crossbill Records (Davis, CA) to bring you this special slice of music magic! Jason Lytle covers Sea of Bees. Sea of Bees covers Jason Lytle.
