Swirly pearl punch!

Fleeting Joys is one of the few bands that defines my taste within a genre, and will only forever be one of my most treasured acts.  As a kid in the 90’s I fell deeply in love with shoegaze (thanks Kjell Sander!) and I spent a lot of hours digging into the ethereal sounds of the scene. When it all faded towards the end of the century I had a really hard time accepting it, and it created a void that took  years to fill.

When Fleeting Joys suddenly appeared with their debut album “Despondent transponder” back in 2006, it hit me like a long lost favourite flavour, a multi facetted bursting wave of bliss. Now, there were a few shoegazers operating in the meantime, but these guys got it right!  The swirling waves of treated guitars, the perfect mix of floating boy/girl vocals, ace basslines playing around while underscoring the fabtastic harmonies, and drums pushing it fw with just the right amount of tension and dynamics.

Their sound inherits the deep, floating aesthetics of My Bloody Valentine’s “Loveless” and the powerful dynamics of Swervedriver at the same time, combining two of my favourite things of the genre for a quite unique outcome.

“Speeding Away To Someday” marks Fleeting Joys’ 3rd album, and true to their massive sound the veil of guitars and effects tells stories of many, many layers to explore.. Be sure to tune in and get carried away, it’s a soothing trip of epic proportions!

Based in Sacramento, CA, Fleeting Joys is crafted by the love of John and Rorika Loring, who wrote, arranged, recorded, produced and released this gem through their own label Only Forever Recordings. All instruments are usually recorded by the pair, except drums which has been previously been laid down by good friends of theirs, Matt McCord and Chris Woodhouse.

The vinyl issue of their 1st album is selling at close to 100$ these days, so grab this gem while available straight from source!
