2015 will be known as the year the 5-year drought came to an end.  The veteran psych pop Swedes known as Dungen are following up 2010’s vintage-cool prog rocker Skit I Allt with Allas Sak, another batch of jazz-infused chamber pop that transcends genres and defies assumptions.  One track hurls fuzzy garage riffs into your ear canals and another lofts sweeping orchestral arrangements.  I like to think of their full-lengths as their own unique ‘White Albums’, packed to the brim with ideas and styles, yet still a cohesive piece as a whole.

Now on their 7th record, Mexican Summer deemed it fit for a deluxe edition with red wax, and it’s first come-first dosed.  If you’re in need of some new medicine, Dungen’s your huckleberry, and it’s got some kick.

The Details

Allas Sak is about everyday matters: family, friends, the fine texture of life. Common but never mundane, these subjects anchor the music in the here and now, while the music lends a certain grandeur to ordinary moments. “Lyrics are very important to me,” says Ejstes. “We know a lot of people who don’t speak Swedish who love the music anyway. Music comes first every time. I think it could be wordless if the moods in the music take you somewhere, but often the melodies are attached to words that came up the first time they were played.”

Product will ship near release date, September 25, 2015. Deluxe version features red vinyl and high quality MP3 download.
