RIYL: Neon Indian, Twin Shadow, Washed Out

Label: Carpark Records

From chillwaver to indie soul man, Chaz Bundick has made it clear that he can’t be pigeonholed, shaking off a style as quick as he adopts new ones.  Versatile and prolific, Toro y Moi is back for album number five, and you may need to slip into something more comfortable.

For his newest single Girl Like You, Chaz is throwing together all of the ingredients for an intimate evening for two.  He’s splashed some Cool Water on the nape of his neck and ordered two dozen oysters and a bottle of pinot blanc.  To kick it up a notch, he’s brought in a casio, a muted bass and plenty of vocoder to get your inner thighs sweaty.  Subtlety be damned.  When you know what you want, sometimes you just gotsta be blunt, ya dig?

Carpark Records has some delicious marbled vinyl for you after the ‘buy’ link.  No word of the quantities, but don’t underestimate Toro y Moi’s fanbase.  These could be gone before you’ve even slipped out of your silk robes.
