RIYL: Blood Orange, How to Dress Well, Benjamin Clementine

Label: Secretly Canadian

Born Josiah Wise, the experimental r&b artist now known as serpentwithfeet glided into 2016 with a humble EP called blisters, 5 tracks of remarkably delicate soul amplified by Wise’s distinctive trembling vocal delivery.  The industry certainly took note, and after two extensive tours and a few more years of writing, serpentwithfeet has readied his official debut soil.  I’m looking forward to more left-of-the-dial chord progressions and vocal treatments in the vein of How to Dress Well and Blood Orange, but I’m leaving my expectations at the door.  Josiah Wise was born to defy them.

Secretly Canadian has a yellow vinyl variant available right now after the ‘buy’ link and an autographed poster designed by serpentwithfeet for the first 150 preorders.  Those probably won’t last long!  Check out the music video for first track bless ur heart below and throw those headphones.  Those harmonies deserve your full attention.
