RIYL: Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Amy Winehouse, The Meters

Label: Record Kicks

Back in 2012, Australian heavy funk unit Dojo Cuts released Take From Me, a boilin’ hot collection of sweaty dance floor ragers led by a top tier entourage of brass aficionados, hip thrusting breakbeats and the irresistible pipes from Roxie Ray. Still considered to be their finest endeavor, original copies of this thing are gonna cost you. Until now, of course. Now, you can throw those pesky flippers the ol’ hurdy birdy and grab a brand new pressing on clear vinyl for a reasonable price.

If you’re a fan of Daptone’s catalog (honestly, who isn’t?), Amy Winehouse and her ilk and other legendary funk acts like The Meters and The J.B.’s, I’d say this one is worth a listen at least. If you wanna grab that wax, though, don’t dilly dally. Just over 70 copies are left out of the 500 copies pressed. You’ve been warned. Check out the whole album below!
