RIYL: St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Nathaniel Rateliff
Label: Morphius Records
Bosley founder Chris Taylor has been churning out funkified soul disco and jazz ballads since the turn of the 2010s, overcoming addictions and finding his own unique voice along the way. Bosley conjures up the bygone era of Stax and Motown in a similar vein to St. Paul and the Broken Bones and even some of the funkier side of Justin Timberlake. The versatility in his songwriting is undeniable on his third full-length Unreal Fire as disco beats somersault into funky brass sections and slower piano numbers collide with smoky jazz tunes. If your ears crave a little variety, check this one out!
There’s an uber rare blue vinyl variant limited to only 50, but that one will set you back $40. There’s a white vinyl variant as well, limited to 500 copies, that will only run you $17. Get those after the ‘buy’ link and check out some of the tracks below to get your Friday started on the right foot.
