RIYL: Iggy and the Stooges, Radio Birdman, The Dead Boys
Label: Almost Ready Records
In case you can’t fly out to Detroit for Third Man’s record plant opening this weekend, do the next best thing and throw a tener at Almost Ready Records’ newest reissue.  A coveted punk gem from a trio of Detroiters turned San Fransiscans, The Dogs took the punk baton handed to them from Iggy and the rest of their punk forefathers and turned it up a notch.  Similar to Death’s Politicians in My Eyes, The Dogs’ Slash Your Face helped usher in the looming hardcore movement happening in Los Angeles with Black Flag and The Germs.  There’s an obvious nod to The Stooges’ I Got A Right, but this cut is as gnarled and bloody-knuckled as any of your favorites.
The original 1978 pressing goes for ungodly amounts and the 2001 reissue is also getting pretty pricey, so now’s the time to finally get this forgotten classic for a decent price. Â Fetch a copy after the ‘buy’ link and listen to all three tracks below.
