RIYL: The Exploding Hearts, The Real Kids, Thin Lizzy
Label: Wilsuns RC
Hearing the intro riff on Sheer Mag’s 2014 jam What You Want for the first time was one of those “You had me at hello” moments, an explosion of sugary power pop as catchy as your favorite Thin Lizzy deep cut, but as raw as anything coming out of CBGB’s around the same time. They’re the spirit of ’76 with an awareness from ’19, a rock and roll band for a generation who thought that shit was for their grandparents.
The Mag is back at it this year with a new full-length titled A Distant Call and they’ve already thrown a new single up to keep you on ice until the whole thing drops.¬† Christina Halladay’s instantly recognizable vocals are as lovable as they are ferocious, and the band is right behind her kicking out those sweaty licks you crave.¬† Grab a slab of the new album after the ‘buy’ link on a die-hard splatter variant limited to 1000 or go see them on tour and get it there.¬† Either way, I already secured my copy. I suggest you do the same before they GONE.¬† Hey all you UK snd Aussie brethren, get yours HERE.
There are two editions available for pre-order: the DIEHARD EDITION (limited to 1000x and only available here during this pre-order or from the band at shows while supplies last) and the REGULAR EDITION.
