What is there to say about Jay Reatard that hasn’t already been shouted from the rooftops? Â Trailblazer of the modern (and flourishing)Â garage punk thingamadoo, gone way too bloody soon, legendary live performances, and on and on it goes. Â It’s been a little over 5 years since he passed, so it’s about time we got a tribute for the man, right?
Blood Visions is a classic.  There’s no point in arguing that, regardless of where your musical tastes land.  It rages, it writhes, it grabs you by your t-shirt and smashes you in the nose.  Retard Records has explored the globe in search of the perfect group of bands to cover this bonafied bloody classic, and they’ve come up with a damn good line-up.  Bazooka (Greece), Wolf Mountains (Germany), White Mystery (Chicago), Combomatic (France) and many many more.
In the same vein as Castle Face Records & Friends’ tribute to The Velvet Underground & Nico, this is an album for the fans, made by the fans. Â A lot of these groups have personally attested that they’re playing music because of Jay Reatard. Â If that’s not reason enough to believe in this thing called rock and roll, I don’t know what is.
Be ready for 15 original songs covered by 15 of the best current bands, what more could you ask for?
Long live Retard Records, thanks again to the Retard & Friends galaxy for this great tribute and we’re convinced that Jay would appreciate it from wherever he is.
