RIYL: X-Ray Spex, Sheer Mag, Cheena

Label: Sub Pop

In a 2008 interview, Ian MacKaye wagered that if you choose to engage in any form of expression, whatever you do is a political act.  Rhode Island’s blatantly political, pissed off and unclassifiable Downtown Boys are the new faces of opposition in 2017, and like MacKaye, are aware that regardless of your lyrical content or the volume of your amps, you are either promoting the systems of power currently in place or you are raging against them.

Lucky for us, Downtown Boys also know how to write a f-ing tune and, regardless of your political leanings, they’re gonna smash perfectly into your eardrums and get your heads banging in perfect harmony.  Check out two of the tracks below and preorder a copy of the ‘Loser Edition’ vinyl variant after the ‘buy’ link.
