Illinois psych rock ensemble White Shape are finally home from a long voyage, returning with scars, tales and gifts, most importantly 7 new songs marinated in sacred reverb and holy fuzz. Titled Perfect Dark, this new album has a little something for all fans of psych-influenced music. There are righteous riffs, meditative droned-out ambience and a bountiful supply of vocal harmonies. Kayla Hall and Josh Weidman’s vocal chemistry is one of the highlights here, cutting through the dazzlingly thick fog of guitar and synth layers like a scythe to the chaff. This is way too good not to belong on your record shelves, so get to it.
