RIYL: John Adler, Syd Barrett

Label: Twink

If you’ve broken on through to that other side, you’ve met John Adler.  A key figure in the British psych movement of the late 60s and early 70s, Adler was a member of Tomorrow, The Pretty Things, Pink Fairies and Stars with Syd Barrett.  It’s safe to say he exists on a different plain than us normal folk, but thankfully, he’s graced us with aural bread crumbs along his journey to help us catch up.

His debut solo effort as Twink titled Think Pink is nothing short of remarkable.  A hodge podge of experimental folk, acid rock, decadent incantations and mystical machinations, Twink is truly the psych head’s psych head. The odds of you finding a decent original copy for less than $300 is slim, so you’re in LUCK, traveler.  Twink Headquarters is conjuring up 150 pink splatter vinyl copies of the original 1969 mono mix, never before released on vinyl.  Also included is a 7″ of an album cut plus an obscure one.  Don’t miss this!  No idea how long these will last, but I don’t imagine 150 slabs will stick around long.
