RIYL: Spiritual drones, Acoustic Trancendental Raga

Label: Sunstone Records

Light that incense and prepare for another out of body experience!

Australian Folk/Psych/Raga-outfit Trappist Afterland released the outstanding “Afterlander” on vinyl last year through the brilliant UK-label Sunstone Records, and it really opened up a lot of minds to their trancendental drones.  Pressed in 99 copies on Christ-blood Red vinyl, this became a collectors item in no-time, and is by now selling above the 100 mark..

Today Sunstone opened up pre-orders for their new album “God’s Good Earth”, to be released in August.  There is no audio available yet from the album, but take my word for this being one you’ll be extremely happy you jumped on without hesitating! The first available track “Goodbye John Merrick” is now up, listen underneath. Also check out their catalogue via bandcamp, it’s really something!

Only 100 copies are available for pre-sales, and 2/3s are already gone!  The remaining 50 will be sold through their upcoming tour.

The Details

After Trappist Afterland's low key UK tour and critically-acclaimed LP last year, Adam and his brothers return with God's Good Earth.

While Afterlander explored the darker notions of the human spirit through its spectral rhizomes, God's Good Earth finds the band on a more uplifted anime, but as acidic and fuzzed out as ever.

For fans of Witthüser & Westrupp's 'Trips & Träume' or Giovanni's Magnet. Moving beautifully and plaintively over 2 sides, wake up and smell the petrichor.
