RIYL: Menahan Street Band, Khun Narin Electric Phin Band
Label: Dead Oceans (US) / Night Time Stories (UK)
East Texas psychstrumentalists Khruangbin, wielders of exotic Thai funk-inspired grooves, set the dance floor on fire with 2018’s Con Todo El Mundo, their first romp with Dead Oceans and undoubtedly their most successful album to date. This year will see the band take the album out for another spin, but this new journey will have some extra flavors and spices. Similar to The Frightnrs’ More to Say Versions LP on Daptone Records, Hasta El Cielo is a complete reworking of Khruangbin’s last record with dubbed out psychedelicious effects.¬† If there was ever a band where this idea made sense, it’d be with Khruangbin.
Dead Oceans has a dark blue vinyl variant that you can grab after the ‘buy’ link, but Night Time Stories has a light blue version limited to 1000 copies that you can grab HERE. There’s also an indie-exclusive yellow vinyl colorway that you can get from Bullmoose HERE, Rough Trade HERE¬†or any number of your favorite online distros.¬† Decisions decisions.¬† Check out Mary Always below with the new dub sound.
