RIYL: Gap Dream, Froth, Post Animal

Label: The Reverberation Appreciation Society

The kaleidoscopic mind-expanding trip from Austin, TX known as Holy Wave appear to be on a new mission, their fourth full-length alongside The Reverberation Appreciation Society. The title of this new endeavor is Interloper, which means “a person who becomes involved in a place or situation where they are not wanted or are considered not to belong.” Their first single, a synth-based departure from their previous garage psych sound, is titled I’m Not Living in the Past Anymore. I’m no detective, folks, but it sounds like Holy Wave are looking for new beaches. I don’t wanna drop a bunch of Pet Sounds, Kid A or Currents references here, but all great bands come to a fork in the road at some point. Either choose to continue down the safe, but familiar highways or wander into the deep wood and hold on tight. Holy Wave has taken the forest less traveled. Will you join them?

If the will for adventure hasn’t sold you, then check out the delicious colored vinyl variant from the Levitation Store, a milky clear slab with heavy blue and tangerine splatter limited to 500 copies. For a couple bucks less, there’s also a clear vinyl slab limited to 800. If you live in the UK, there’s a super limited ‘sea blue’ colorway from Fuzz Club that you can grab HERE. Check out their new electro-krautrock single I’m Not Living in the Past Anymore and music video below.
