RIYL: Black Sabbath meets Afrobeat

Label: Riding Easy Records

“The repetitive guitar figures that happen in Afrobeat music are very close to heavy rock guitar riffs,” frontman Marcos Garcia explains about his debut full-length from 5-piece LA afropsychers Here Lies Man.  Garcia has taken the deep, gut punch riffage from Sabbath’s Iommi and combined it with sweaty pelvic-thrusting rhythms from Fela Kuti, William Onyeabor and other Afrobeat greats.  It’s fist-pumping, it’s funky and best of all, it sounds NEW.  This is a debut of massive proportions and you need to get on this like now.

200 copies on clear vinyl await you after the ‘buy’ link, and if you’re particularly swayed in your bathing suit area, grab a test press while they last.
