The long awaited 8th album by the Lawrence, Kansas outfit is finally up for pre-order! Over the last decade and a half this bunch has made some serious changes, deviating in ways that saw their fan base either divided or sewn together — some saw change as a positive progression or simply refreshing; others saw it as potentially regressive. The forums are sprawling with debate on the choices these fine folks have made. Regardless of all that, one thing remains: they paved a path and set an early direction for the ’emo’ sound and have not stopped in their experimentation. As a ‘post-rock’ fan I can definitely say that I love the strength in their experimentation and the only track I can seem to find has me enjoying the adventure. Although not the wisest of Appleseed fans — the appreciation is surely there. Check out a track from the release down below! It’s good.

The Details

Change, as they say, is a good thing. And a lot has changed for Lawrence, Kansas, post-rock outfit The Appleseed Cast over the 14 years since their founding. With Illumination Ritual (out April 23rd), their first full-length since 2009’s Sagamartha & first output since 2011’s Middle States EP, they’ve embraced not only a new line-up, but also hopscotching time signatures and a tumultuous anthemic energy that rivals anything else in their consistently impressive catalog..... click here for more info on this release
