When I began writing for Sly Vinyl, the work of Andy Othling (through discovering Lowercase Noises) was one of the very first I had stumbled on that truly impacted in those unexplainably mysterious ways. The ways that only come to realization after the song finally releases you from it’s captivation. But then again, this man is a master of ambience, atmosphere, and mood. He does it damn well.

Nowadays, you’d be hard-pressed to find one of us without a copy of his work on our shelves!

With his latest record, This Is For Our Sins, Lowercase Noises has revolved the album around the story of the Lykov family. They’ve lived in isolation, amid the Russian wilderness (southern Siberia), for over 40 years; completely devoid of human contact. These areas were considered to be uninhabitable.

As is usual with Andy, this music is immensely beautiful and entirely enveloping.
