Having begun making music under the moniker of Cloudkicker back in 2007, Ben Sharp writes, records, mixes, and masters all of his own work. He’s pretty well known for remaining reclusive by not touring and not taking interviews almost entirely. That’s just his style. BUT, he broke that rhythm recently with a tour that went over extremely well. Following the completion of that was a reissue of quite a few records from his catalog.
If you’re not familiar with any of Cloudkicker’s work than this might be a sidetrack of a start. Known for his work within the post-rock/metal realm, this record sees 8-tracks that draw forth acoustically — for the most part. A bit different when compared to the rest of his catalog, but just another addition to the impressively prolific output he’s managed so far. TRUST ME, this is not a point to be discouraged by! The immensity of Ben Sharp’s work is most certainly felt here as it is within all his previous and subsequent releases. If anything, this record lends itself to those who are interested in the instrumental side of post-rock but not so much the heavier side that can exist through the genre — and most certainly throughout Ben Sharp’s work as Cloudkicker.
