As we alluded to in the previous Caspian posts this past week, the fourth LP from Caspian has finally been unveiled! Having had the opportunity to hear the entirety of this record roughly a month ago, it’s easy to say that Caspian has clearly set the bar even higher with this piece of music. If you’re not familiar with this band, each of their albums stands tried and true as a sculpture in and of itself expressing the emotions and life experiences that each member of this band has gone through in the time frame that said album was developed under. Clearly maintaing that “Caspian sound,” Dust & Disquiet steps even further ahead with new sounds from the band that we haven’t heard before, to include: ““Ríoseco” which explores the wilder, steel-eyed side of country, and “Aeternum Vale” which ventures into the classical realm.” For this album the band again chose to enlist the help of Matt Bayles, who worked on Waking Season, (Minus the Bear, Mastodon, Isis, Cursive, Screaming Females, The Sword) to produce and mix the album.

Be sure to check out the breathtakingly beautiful new single, “Sad Heart of Mine,” just below!!!!!!!

The Details

Dear Friend,

Well, the time has come. We are thrilled, proud, and as always, a little bit anxious to finally announce that our 4th full-length studio album, Dust and Disquiet, will be released worldwide on September 25, 2015. This record was the product of some substantial soul searching, four seasons of sleepless nights, a whole lot of hard work, and the desire to reclaim for ourselves what it is exactly that we all still love about music, both as individuals and as a collective unit. It’s heavy, it’s mellow, it’s intense, it’s epic - it’s a CASPIAN record. You may find a few surprises within it as well. We always try to spin some sort of tale over the course of each one of these (this one clocks in at 58 minutes) and make concessions for the greater good in terms of the way these songs function together. Dust and Disquiet is certainly no exception. We think this record flows together as a whole better than anything we’ve done yet. Come September, we’ll let you be the judge.

Album flow always make it strange for us when presenting “singles” to you, because it can resemble ripping a chapter of a book out and throwing it out there without any context. But so it goes. To get us all started, here’s a pretty little bright spot toward the middle of the record called “Sad Heart of Mine.” It’s kind of a ray of light in the midst of what we feel is a bit of a denser experience this time around, and it served its purpose perfectly for the bigger narrative we tried to spin. Without further adieu, have a listen to “Sad Heart of Mine” on YouTube or Soundcloud, and turn it up.
