Arresting, provocative and unconventional, Sean Bowie’s experimental electro-rock tinkerings as Yves Tumor gained significant critical acclaim with his 2018 full-length Safe in the Hands of Love, a dangerously seductive hybrid of alien r&b, noise and pop. Two years and twelve tracks later, we’ll be treated to album #4 titled Heaven to a Tortured Mind. The first available track Gospel For A New Century already has the music blogs reeling for year-topping predictions, a brass-sampled banger with traces of blaxploitation soundtrack grooves and heaping doses of progressive pop aesthetics. Don’t set your expectations though. Tumor has been known to destroy those.
Vinyl Me, Please has a vinyl variant limited to 500 copies that is now open to non-members. I don’t imagine those lasting long. You can also grab the album from Warp Records on silver vinyl HERE for considerable less money. There’s no word on the Warp quantity, but I’d wager at least 1500.
