Children, believe me when I say this event has been a long time coming. The criminally underrated, slightly dormant, and most serene of republics put out their last album back in 2009. It’s been a while since we’ve heard righteous rock from our darling Miltonians and there’s been a line-up change since their last album, … And The Ever Expanding Universe. Emma Ditchburn, the (obviously) female vocalist that shared the sacred singing duties with Adrian Jewett, flew the coop for reasons unbeknownst to us. It doesn’t seem like that’s affected the band’s vivacity, however. A unique thing about the band is their lyricism – if you listen to what they sing, it’s often just nonsense. However, with their lead single, “Ontario Morning,” it actually seems coherent. Dave Newfeld’s hands are all over this (as with all the band’s past records) – if you like the sound of Broken Social Scene records before Forgiveness Rock Record, I especially encourage you to give this a shot. Listen to “Ontario Morning” below via the SoundCloud stream and see what you think of it. Cheers!
