RIYL: The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Tame Impala

Label: Sacred Bones

Chilean psych pop duo The Holydrug Couple have readied their fifth studio album following 2016’s Soundtrack for Pantanal on BYM Records.  Now back with Sacred Bones, prepare your body and mind for another multi-colored cirrus cloud of lush psych pop.  According to the label, The Holydruggers spent a great deal of time in their recording process listening to classic pop records from the 60s and 70s.  The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac and on and on…Ives Sepúlveda Minho and Manuel Parra left none of the era’s masterpieces unheard, and while it doesn’t necessarily reflect in the sound of Hyper Super Mega, you can still sense plenty of good vibrations in its soul.

Sacred Bones is offering a hyper super mega awesome vinyl variant after the ‘buy’ link consisting of their hand-numbered wax seal cover treatment, luscious red vinyl and even an additional cassette full of demos for the record.  For a cool $26, it’s highly unlikely that these will still be around in a week.  I’d get on it pronto if you’re a fan!
