RIYL: Depeche Mode, Postal Service, Cold Cave, Actors

Label: OnMono Recordings

Founded in 1992 in Albuquerque, The Echoing Green is easily one of the longest-running synth pop acts in my lifetime. Finding early inspiration in the synth-heavy 80s bands like Depeche Mode and New Order, The Echoing Green evolved into a cross-pollination of rock, industrial, post punk and new wave with a pop-centric sense of melody and song structure. Lyrically, their music explored literary, philosophical and spiritual themes, a curiously original concept in the venue of dance music. Since their genesis, they’ve recorded 11 albums and toured the world. Violent Whispers is a collection of their best work from 2003-2018, and should hit a sweet spot for a wide array of electronic music fans, from the minimal wave of Cold Cave to the indietronic sounds from The Postal Service to the classic synth pop of The Pet Shop Boys and Erasure. Dig in, yall. Ya might learn a thing or two about a thing or two.
Violent Whispers: Songs & Secrets of The Echoing Green is limited to just 500 copies, each one numbered and autographed, and the majority of them have sold out already. If you’re on the fence, the band has even offered an exclusive coupon just for you lucky Sly readers.
