RIYL: Sufjan Stevens, Bowerbirds, Great Lake Swimmers, Horse Feathers

Label: Paper Bag Records

Exciting news from Canada’s Paper Bag Records! ¬†They’ve introduced a new imprint, Paper Bag Vintage, specializing in reissuing long out-of-print albums and projects that were never released on vinyl. ¬†Starting off, they’re pressing an uber limited run of The Dears’ End of a Hollywood Bedtime Story, which you can preorder HERE. ¬†Only 50 autographed copies are available, so get to it. ¬†Also, they’re reissuing Art Blakemann’s Remember Her Name, and those are available HERE. ¬†The final reissue, and the one¬†I’m most excited about, is The Acorn’s 2007 debut Glory Hope Mountain, a sublime experimental folk¬†album from beginning to end. ¬†It’s hard to believe it’s already celebrating its 10 year anniversary!

Fans of warm acoustic chamber pop will flip for The Acorn. ¬†As approachable as any Sufjan Stevens record, The Acorn’s Rolf-Carlos Klausener has a gift for pop song compositions¬†with a bent for experimentation. ¬†Fans of Balmorhea’s acoustic soundscapes¬†and The Bowerbirds’ campfire folk framework will find tons to fall in love with here. ¬†Check out the full album below.

I wouldn’t waste a lot of time here. ¬†There are only 100 of the deluxe colored vinyl copies available, and the package comes with an 8-page booklet. ¬†The original 2007 pressing of the record gets upwards of $100 on the secondary market, so if you’ve been after this one, now’s the time! ¬†Can’t wait to see more releases from Paper Bag Vintage!
