The husband and wife duo known as Tennis have returned with their 5th studio album. As per the yacht rock style, they remain consistent to their successful formula of heartwarming groovy love song-esk tracks that lead to a uncontrollable swaying sensation that only eases up when the song concludes. They have two limited versions out right now, a Blue Transparent ($20) that seems to be an Indie Only version and a VMP numbered pink version limited to 500 (Buy Now link).
Rough Trade: Tennis (made up of husband and wife team Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore) return with their fifth full length. Swimmer is a tour of the darkest time in their lives. But it is not a dark record. Named for the feeling of suspension and upendedness that characterized this period, it is the story of deep-rooted companionship strengthened by pain and loss. These songs carried Tennis through grief. It is them at our most vulnerable, so they kept a small footprint, recording everything themselves in their home studio. Tennis sound fresh as ever on Lead track Runner, a romantic, groovy synth explosion that puts Moore’s soprano on full display.
