RIYL: FIBRE, Saint Pepsi, Night Tempo

Label: Montaime

2014 was a fairly tectonic year for vaporwave and future funk albums as the genre began to fragment into new territories. 2814’s classic self-titled debut explored a much more ambient realm, Vaperror’s Mana Pool waded in trap influences and Esprit 空想 got weirder and warpier with Virtua.zip.  SUPERSEX420 x Tendencies, meanwhile, were taking their cues from Saint Pepsi and the future funkalists of his stripe. Sample-heavy house loops drizzled with disco sheen through a modern lens, their Split EP is undoubtedly one of the most underrated future funk endeavors of that year. Without albums like this one, labels like Neoncity Records quite possibly never would have existed.

And now, thanks to Montaime Records, we’re canonizing the tracks with a much-needed vinyl release. 200 copies have been pressed on pink wax and they even include two vinyl-exclusive bonus tracks. Listen to the whole thing below and grab a copy of the wax after the ‘buy’ link. Less than 70 copies remain as of this post, so don’t think it over too long!
