RIYL: The GOASTT, Jacco Gardner, The Dandy Warhols

Label: Little Cloud Records

At the height of his popularity, the revered Anton Newcombe said that Rick Bain’s 2000 album Crooked Autumn Sun was the one album he wished he’d written. Crafting their own unique brand of neo-psych pop, Rick Bain and The Genius Position could silence even the most acid-tongued critics and collectors, but after a few years of hype and publicity, Rick Bain vanished for the better part of a decade to start a family and reconnect with the simpler things in life. But that’s not where his story ends.

Nearly two decades after that monumental debut record, Rick Bain and The Genius Position are back with Keep it Glowing, nine new tracks of dreamy pop grooves and garage rock grinds simmering with sun-bronzed harmonies, gurgling guitar trickery and deep tissue massages for your third eye. If you’re a fan of Sean Lennon’s The GOASTT, The Dandy Warhols and Temples, you’re gonna need this one on your record shelf.

Little Cloud Records has copies of the album on purple haze vinyl after the ‘buy’ link for all statesiders. If you’re in the UK, grab a copy from Cardinal Fuzz HERE. Listen to the full album below.
