RIYL: Merchandise, Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp
Label: Apollon Record AS
Love is the Greatest Compass marks the 7th full-length from Norwegian pop rockers Pogo Pops, but this one is their first major international release. Pogo Pops are quite possibly one of the most underrated pop rock bands of the last 30 years and are often considered the pioneers of the ‘Bergen Wave’ movement that exploded in the 2000s. Bands like Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp and Sondre Lerche all adapted a style of music that Pogo Pops and their counterparts helped develop. If you dig those smooth-as-butter croons from bands like Suede and Merchandise and love the many subgenres of chamber pop, give these guys a listen.
