RIYL: Merchandise, Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp

Label: Apollon Record AS

Love is the Greatest Compass marks the 7th full-length from Norwegian pop¬†rockers Pogo Pops,¬†but this one is their first major international release. ¬†Pogo Pops are quite possibly one of the most underrated pop rock bands of the last 30 years and are often considered the pioneers of the ‘Bergen Wave’¬†movement that exploded in the 2000s. ¬†Bands like Kings of Convenience,¬†R√∂yksopp and Sondre Lerche¬†all adapted¬†a style of music¬†that Pogo Pops and their counterparts helped develop. ¬†If you dig those smooth-as-butter croons from bands like Suede and Merchandise and love the many subgenres of chamber pop, give these guys a listen.

Listen to the entire album below and grab a copy of the record after the ‘buy’ link. ¬†Only 250 of these were made!
