RIYL: Peter Holmström, The Dandy Warhols, Rick Bain and the Genius Position

Label: Little Cloud Records

Does Peter Holmström even need an introduction? For the uninitiated, Peter is founding member and lead guitarist of the legendary psych pop group The Dandy Warhols, a staple of the flourishing psych rock scene of the mid 90s and beyond. He’s also lent his magistral ax to other head-expanding rock bands like Walls of Dada, The Great Northwest and Pete International Airport, named after the droning instrumental track off 1997’s The Dandy Warhols Come Down.

Pete International Airport released their ridiculously underrated self-titled debut in 2010, a combination of Mary Chain fuzz, Beatle-esque psych pop and early Dandies stoned-out jams, all perfect backdrops for Jasun Adams’ lower register vocals. 2017’s Safer with Wolves was a dark trip into more electronic-inspired psychedelia and featured a slew of collaborators from bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Angels and Mercury Rev. If you haven’t listened to this one, do yourself a solid HERE.

That brings us to SFR WTH TH WLVS…RMX, another collaboration of sorts featuring 14 remixes off the Safer with Wolves LP. Some veer into much more atmospheric compositions while others double down on the electronic experimentation that the original album was founded on. If you loved Safer with Wolves, this one is a perfect supplement. Plus, they’ll look great standing proudly together on your record shelf.
