RIYL: New Order, Chromatics, Electric Youth, M83
Label: Sacred Bones
Beloved Copenhagen electronic pop trio Lust For Youth are continuing down their ever-evolving trail of luscious synth-laden pop with Compassion, their fifth proper studio record and fourth release on Sacred Bones Records.  2011’s Solar Flare showed a band with post-punk influences and a desire to experiment with sounds from the “New Romantic” era of the 1980s.  Over the course of the next 5 years, Lust For Youth has slowly shifted towards the more melodic-driven side of post-punk.  The punk dissonance still lurks in the rich layers of synths, but consider Compassion favoring New Order over Joy Division.
First single Stardom is unwaveringly 1980s in the best possible way. Â It’s everything you love about late 80s Depeche Mode, M83’s Saturdays = Youth, the Drive soundtrack and Chameleons UK’s Script of the Bridge. Â Perfect synth sounds married with the moody crooning from frontman Hannes Norrvide.
A record limited to 350 ain’t a whole lot considering Lust For Youth’s growing fanbase. Â For those unfamiliar with Sacred Bones Records, their deluxe copies come wrapped in a gorgeous wax-sealed alternate sleeve. Â They love vinyl as much as we do and it shows.
Deluxe Edition Version: Edition of 350 hand-numbered copies comes in deluxe packaging, on white vinyl, with alternate screen-printed wrap-around sleeve, wax-sealed, and available by mail order only. ONE PER PERSON LIMIT.
