RIYL: Alvvays, Snail Mail, Cocteau Twins

Label: Double Double Whammy

First off, I know we’re a bit late on this one.  Brisbane chanteuse Harriette Pilbeam dropped this infectious little E.P. back in May, a catastrophe of good tunes from an artist barely out of the gate.  At just 5 tracks, Sugar & Spice is 2018’s biggest teaser, over and done with in less than 20 minutes and leaving you pining for seconds and thirds.  Each track is packed to the brim with addicting hooks and lush layers loaded with summery reverb and Harriette Pilbeam’s achingly sublime vocal harmonies.  Honestly can’t pick a favorite tune.  They’re all so damn good, damn it.  Damn.

Only 250 copies were made on electric blue and pink splatter vinyl, and somehow there are still a few copies left for us.  Don’t let this one slip by.  If you’re a fan of Cocteau Twins, Alvvays, Beach House and the rest, Hatchie is a perfect addition to the collection.  Check out the 5 tracks below!

UPDATE – The Bandcamp link has sold out, but you can still get a copy at DDW’s website for $17.  The ‘buy’ link has been updated.
