RIYL: iamamiwhoami, FKA twigs, Elon Musk
Following the singular world she painted with 2015’s critically-acclaimed full-length Art Angels, Claire Boucher’s art pop experiment known as Grimes stepped back and gathered more intel on the galaxy and our surrounding alien lifeforms before embarking on her highly-anticipated 5th album Miss Anthropocene. Caked in cavernous production with an abundance of reverb, the new album focuses on the uncertain future of our planet, the plausible realities of artificial intelligence and other great conversation starters at your family reunions. If you fell in love with Boucher’s otherworldly pixie-esque vocal delivery on Visions and enjoy witch house artists like Balam Acab and oOoOO, you just can’t go wrong with Grimes.
The red vinyl, and possibly the rarest of the bunch, is offered by Vinyl Me, Please. Initially, it was only available to subscribers, but it’s now open for all. I doubt those last long. You can also buy the opaque white colorway from 4AD’s webstore HERE or wait it out for the pink vinyl indie exclusive wax to hit your local store. If you don’t live near one, preorder it from any number of online distro sites like BullmooseĀ if you reside in the US or Piccadilly if you live in the UK. Check out some of the available tracks below and immerse yourself in Grimes’ new world.
